
A special hike through the diverse cultural landscape in Hardanger. From the orchards by the fjord to the hills shaped by domestic animals. In April 2005 queen Sonja walked the trail accompanied by a couple of thousand others at the opening of "Streif". The official agricultural celebration of becoming an independed country 100 years ago. Reiseter - Nå 4 km. The trail can be combined with other hikes in the area.

Hardangervidda is the largest high mountain plateau in Northern-Europe. In 1981 a part of the plateau was made national park stretching down the beautiful Husedalen. The closest tourist hut, Stavali is located 1024 meters above sea level. You can also reach the National Park from Lofthus

Folgefonna is the third biggest glacier in Norway and parts of the glacier lies is the municipality of Ullensvang. The glacier is easy to see from the fjord. Guided trips are available from Aga or Bleie.

The valley from Kinsarvik towards Hardangervidda is a pearl in Ullensvang with 4 impressive waterfalls. One follows the other within 3 hours walk one way.

You can choose either to take the mountain road or a trail from Lofthus. This is one of the gate ways to Hardangervidda. The monk steps are situated 650-700 meter above sea level. These stone steps was once made by the monks in Opedal. If you walk a bit further you will reach the look out point Nosi - the nose. 4 hours round trip. Map available at the tourist information.

Trail along Opo river. In the end of the valley the waterfalls can be viewed from close range. Bjødnabykse on the left and Skrikjo on the right, has a 400 meter fall. 1,5 hours round trip from Lofthus. Map available at the tourist information.

The path takes you on a journey through the heart of Norwegian fruit production,and you will also see 10 informative boards with information about growing fruit and local history along the path. Map available at the tourist information.

Husedalen in Kinsarvik is one of the most beautiful gates to Hardangervidda. The nature and views of the 4 waterfalls are breathtaking. The first part of the trail is a walk through an area rich in both nature and cultural history. 8 decorative and informative boards follow the trail with information in Norwegian, English and German. Starts in Kinsarvik, goes to Tveitafoss power station and ends up in Hardanger National park. Map available at the tourist information.

The mountain trail at Lofthus provides the setting for a roundtrip that will take you up the Lofthus hillside via the Monks`Steps to Hardangervidda and down Frøyneslia. A total of 7 displays with themes depicting mountain farm life and the Hardangervidda National Park and featuring paintings by the artist Lars Korff Lofthus.

Smaller trip with starting point in Agatunet. The round trip takes approx. 2 hours. Maps available in Agatunet. Nice views.

In the area between Utne and Jåstad we can offer many interesting hikes and experiences in the cultural landscape. The existing network of trails and tractor road takes you approx 500 m above sea level. A trail continues from here and up to wards the mountains. Partly marked trails. Map at the tourist office.

A fantastic trip on well marked trails. Start from Tjoflot or Djønno where there also are information boards, panorama view over the Hardanger fjord.
The organisation wishes you welcome to mountains, glacier, fjord and social experiences in the nature. The program for 2010 contains day, weekend, overnight and trips for children.
